GPIB (Protestant Church in Western Indonesia) is part of the GPI (Protestant Church of Indonesia) which formerly Indische Kerk. Theology of the Church is based on the teachings of John Calvin’s Reformation, a French reformer who later moved to Geneva and led the church there. GPIB was founded on October 31, 1948 which at that time called “De Kerk in Westelijk Protestantse Indonesie” based on the Tata-regulation-the Church and the Church presented by the proto-Am Synod to the Agency Workers (Algemene Moderamen) Indonesian Protestant Church. JH Stegeman (Dutch priest) When first formed, GPIB has SEVEN Klasis fruit (now called Mupel or Consultative Services) with 53 congregations, namely: Klasis Jabar includes 9 Church: Jakarta, Tanjung Priok, Jatinegara, Depok, Bogor, Cimahi, Bandung , Central Java Cirebon and Sukabumi Klasis include 6 congregations: Semarang, Magelang, Yogyakarta, Cilacap, Surakarta Klasis Nusakambangan and covers 12 churches in East Java: Madiun, Kediri, Madura, Surabaya, Mojokerto, Malang, Jember, Bondowoso, Banyuwangi, Singaraja, Denpasar and Mataram Klasis Sumatra covers 7 congregations: Sabang, Kutaraja, Medan, Siantar, Padang, Palembang Klasis Telukbayur and Riau Bangka & includes 4 churches: Tanjung Pinang, Louth, Muntok and Tanjungpandan Klasis Kalimantan include 8 congregations: Singkawang, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Samarinda , Balikpapan, Tarakan, Sanga-sanga and Kotabaru Klasis covers 7 congregations Sulawesi: Makassar, Pare-pare, Watansopeng, Raha, Palopo, Bone and Malino GPIB is a member of the GPI, Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI), the Board of Church churches of Asia (CCA), the Alliance of Reformed Churches World (WARC), and the Council of Churches of the World (WCC).
